Life with the new puppy

I’m becoming more active these days. No, I don’t work out at the gym like my other friends, but I’m definitely moving more because of a new addition to our family: a beagle puppy we named Haylie!

My brother got her last month, and honestly, I was so surprised that we got another dog so soon because our 11 year-old dog Macky just passed away a month before he got Haylie. But she is the complete opposite of the mellow and mild-mannered Macky, which is all good because it helped me feel like we were dealing with a whole new personality and creating new memories with a new pet.

I swear, this dog is so hyper! We could run around outside for an hour, but it seems like she never gets tired! She also does a lot of play biting and eats so much. I actually find her heavy, or is it because of her breed? I haven’t had much experience dealing with puppies so all of this was kind of overwhelming at first. I’m getting used to her antics now though, and it won’t be long before she learns all her basic commands.

She loves playing with the cats and guinea pigs, but they don’t like her at all. The guinea pigs would just sniff her for a bit then retreat to her igloo, and the cats are so scared of her that they hiss when she comes near. Poor baby!

I am looking forward to more moments with this little bundle of energy. I am already in love with her and she continues to surprise me every day 🙂

  1. Awww, she’s so cute! It does feel like you’re having cardio everyday due to running around the house. Haha! This reminds me of my neighbor’s cat and dog; they always play together. The dog would bark at me whenever I pet their cat. So protective. :))

  2. Aww, your new puppy is so cute! When we were thinking of getting a dog, we were considering a beagle 🙂 I hope your other pets will get used to her soon and become friends!

  3. So cute! Beagles are very active. My husband and I had two beagles before and they were so much fun but so high energy! She’s a very cute puppy, hope you guys have tons of fun together!

  4. Can I like, please pet it? :3 Beagles are sweethearts. It’s kind of cute how she didn’t look ready for the camera. It’s okay, candid shots are the best anyways. 😛

Your descriptions of her behavior sounds like a typical beagle, if there is such thing. I say this because I read somewhere that beagles are great hunting dogs. That being the case, she’s probably following her hunter’s instinct by being social with other animals [even without the aggressive part].

Get ready for more jogging, because you won’t catch much break with this little one. 😉

  5. I don’t know where to reply to your comment so I’ll just do it here. Haha!

I know! The place is to die for. I wouldn’t mind retiring to a beautiful home like that. It’s like having a vacation/getaway every single day! 🙂
